Cosmetic Ear Surgery

Cosmetic Ear Surgery

Ear Reshaping is known as – Otoplasty – a type of cosmetic surgery that is used to improve the appearance of a person’s external ears. This type of ear surgery is typically performed to bring ears closer to the head or reduce the size of large ears.

Otoplasty can be performed under a general anesthetic as an inpatient procedure (which is generally the case for children undergoing the operation) but is often performed as an outpatient procedure with a local anesthetic.

The procedure, which generally takes no more than three hours, typically involves a small incision at the back of the ear where cartilage is reshaped or removed allowing the ear to rest closer to the head.

Eyelid Surgery

Eyelid Surgery

Blepharoplasty is a corrective surgical procedure involving the reshaping of the upper eyelid and or lower eyelid through the removal of excess tissue. The procedure is used to correct drooping upper lids and puffy bags below the eyes by removing fat, as well as excess skin and muscle, from the upper eyelid and or lower eyelid.

Blepharoplasty is performed by small incisions being made along the natural lines of the eyelids, such as the creases of the upper lids and below the lashes of the lower lids. The skin is then separated from the underlying fatty tissue and muscle, excess fat is removed, and sagging skin and muscle will be trimmed. Finally, the incisions are closed and usually take one to two weeks to heal. This procedure typically takes one to three hours to complete.

Tummy Tuck

Tummy Tuck

Abdominoplasty or “tummy tuck” is a cosmetic surgery procedure to reshape and firm the abdomen. It involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen in order to tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall.

There are two broad variatied of abdominoplasty:

* Complete. Requires from about two to five hours
* Partial. Requires from about one to two hours

Recovery from a complete abdominoplasty can take from four to six weeks and patients are advised to take this recovery time off from work. For the first ten days, a patient may experience bruising and discomfort. A supportive abdominal binder is normally worn to ensure proper healing. Patients are advised not to smoke during recovery.

Wrinkle Cream

Wrinkle Creams

Wrinkles are visible creases in the skin. Most wrinkles are associated with aging changes in skin. Aging of the skin and related structures (hair and nails) is a natural process.

A dermatologist or plastic surgeon may provide choices from wrinkle creams to plastic surgery for dealing with aging problems. Current alternatives have relatively low risk, but are generally expensive.

Other remedies to wrinkles include:

* Tretinoin (Retin-A) or other creams
* Chemical peels or laser resurfacing are very effective options for early wrinkles.
* Botulinum toxin (Botox) may be used to correct some of the wrinkles associated with overactive facial muscles.

Face Lift

Face Lift

A facelift is a surgical procedure to repair sagging, drooping, and wrinkled skin of the face and neck. A face lift is performed to improve visible signs of aging, poor diet, or heredity; it is performed by removing excess fat, tightening underlying muscles, and redraping facial and neck skin.

Most patients are pleased with the results of a facelift. After the face lift, the patient should expect swelling, bruising, skin discoloration, tenderness, and numbness for 10 to 14 days.

Most of the surgical scars from facelifts are hidden in the hairline or the natural lines of the face and will fade over months. Sun exposure after a face lift should be limited.

Rhinoplasty

NOSE JOBS

Rhinoplasty is a type of plastic surgery that is used to improve the function (reconstructive surgery) or appearance (cosmetic surgery) of a person’s nose. Rhinoplasty is also commonly called a “nose job.”

Rhinoplasty can be performed under a general anesthetic or with local anesthetic, depending on patient or doctor preference. Incisions are made inside the rim of the nostrils. Sometimes, tiny, inconspicuous incisions are also made on the rim of the nose. Soft tissues of the nose are then separated from the underlying structures, and the cartilage and bone causing the perceived deformity are reshaped.

In some cases, the surgeon may shape a small piece of the patient’s own cartilage or bone to add to strengthen or increase the structure of the nose. Sometimes this is done for cosmetic reasons (to improve the shape of the nasal tip, for example) or it may be done to improve breathing and function of the nose.

In rarer cases, a synthetic implant may be used to reconstruct the nose if the normal structure of bone and cartilage is badly damaged or weakened.

To improve nasal function, a septoplasty may be performed, with or without cosmetic changes. The cartilage that is removed may be used as a graft to improve the appearance of the nose, if cosmetic changes are desired.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a skin treatment that renews the skin cells to leave you with smooth, young-looking skin. Microdermabrasion works by stimulating the production of skin cells and collagen.

Microdermabrasion works very quickly – the process takes from 30 minutes to an hour. To get perfect skin, you will need 5 to 12 microdermabrasion sessions.

You can either have a therapist perform microdermabrasion or buy a home microdermabrasion kit, if you prefer to save on costs.

Laser hair removal

Laser Hair Removal

Laser Hair Removal is now commercially available for anyone looking to remove excess body hair, quickly and painlessly. Laser Hair Removal involves the use of a laser to damage the hair folicles, making them unable to sustain hair growth.

Laser Hair Removal does not heat up the rest of the skin. This is because the light is absorbed by dark objects, so laser energy can be absorbed by darker hairs, and not the the skin.

There are a number of suppliers online who offer affordable laser hair removal, and cater for both men and women, and people with darker skin.
